Inspiration isn’t something you can plan and it can be triggered by many things. I often find inspiration in music. This week, I shuffled my music and what popped up was “Light in the Forest” by Marley’s Ghost. So here is an example of what I do when I get inspired.
The song continued to pop up in my dreams and waking moments, so I began to sketch and then paint, following my heart to color on purpose.
Then a few days passed as life got in the way. This morning I sat down to finish the painting.
The next step was to scan and take it into Photoshop to create the final Heart Haiku image with text. The first images above are with iPhone and the next image is from Photoshop.
That is when the haiku changed and became even more in line with the original inspiration from the song and an expanded message to me from my heart.
the Heart has radar
when the mind thinks it is lost
look for the light in the forest
listen to the wind
light, sound leads love Home
Inspiration lurks everywhere, like the light in the forest, like the voices in the wind. Look for it or listen. It searches for us unceasingly. Our job is to be open and respond and then color on purpose with whatever skills or tools we have.
I have searched google for the lyrics of the Marley’s Ghost song multiple times with no luck. I was not ready to transcribe it all so here is just the beautiful chorus that inspires me the most:
“Look for the light in the forest
Listen for the voice in the wind
And in your heart, each beat is a part
of the Love that never ends”
– Marley’s Ghost
You can hear the song here: Marley’s Ghost-Light in the Forest
May you be open to the inspiration of your heart and have fun expressing it.
Always follow your Heart in ALL ways
