If you are not feeling inspired to create, what can you do? We all know that there are times when it is hard to find that inspired place within. It is sometimes elusive and sometimes the jungle of worries and fears and doubts is just overwhelming and drowns out the creative spark….temporarily!
One way I deal with this is to focus on what I am grateful for. I look back at some of my favorite creative projects and so many have been generated by the gratitude in my heart. I am reminded that this is just another way and reason to follow your heart and use the key of gratitude!
You can start by setting the intention to focus on your heart and then ask yourself questions. Who has helped you? Who have been the teachers (not just in a formal school)? Who has inspired and encouraged you along the way? Who sees you and accepts you for you really are? Who loves you? Who reminds you of your truth and talents? Who nudges you back onto the path of your heart? Who feeds and nourishes the loving in your heart and soul?
In reflecting on my creative path I have found the value of riding on the energy of gratitude and what that has produced over the years. Here are some examples of how gratitude has inspired my creativity.
I am grateful for…
my daughter – she taught me to love being a mom, how to be a mom and inspired me to grow beyond my own limitations in so many ways and inspires me in all she is and does.
my parents for giving me life and a strong foundation and my sisters whose lives and life stories are filled with blessings that overflow – and the friends who have become family…..
my spiritual teacher and way-shower for leading me back to that foundation and then guiding me higher than I ever dreamed I could go, laughing all the way!
for the country of my birth that has inspired me with it’s foundation and strength and provided a safe place to live and grow…
for nature and this beautiful planet we live on….
for the art teacher who posted on her wall and taught “there is no right or wrong way to do this” and gave me the courage to try new things and discover the creativity within me….
for all the horses I have known and loved…..
Consider that gratitude is a shortcut into the center of your heart and it’s energy will lift you. If you are in need of inspiration, creative or otherwise, spend a little time in the updraft of gratitude and then pause to look around at the loving vistas of your life.
aaahhh….that reminds me I am grateful for gliders!
I think you might find some creative ideas or motivation there…floating on the wings of loving! What are you grateful for? How can your gratitude support and inspire you to move more deeply into and express from your creative heart?
p.s. as soon as I completed this blog, I was inspired to do a weekly Heart Haiku:
“to inspire yourself
ride on gratitude’s updraft
gaze on life’s loving vistas
a gift from the heart”
